i'm a leader: part two point five.

i forgot part of my post! i'll be quick. but i really wanted to include it because it's important.
we were told to prepare for a service project in class. wear good shoes and things we won't be mad if they get dirty. so.. i wore jeans that we're my favorite or nicest, a northern state tshirt (represent south dakota), and my chucks. i was ready to plant flowers or do dishes or something.
nope. we made friends! i have to say i enjoyed it. lauren and i teamed up for the task. we were told to go to the wilk and get to know someone new and "get to know their heart" (see previous post) ..or what of it you could in five minutes. lauren and i had time to meet two people! alexandria and christina.. i think i actually remembered that right!
i especially enjoyed talking to christina. at first i felt like she was totally annoyed by us, but then she started engaging in conversation when she noticed we weren't sitting there because there was no where else to sit, we actually wanted to talk. she's a junior, a communication disorder major. i really liked that because my little brother has a speed impediment, actually so cute, but so frustrating for him. she's been dating a guy since march-ish, but isn't in a rush to get married anytime soon. i appreciated her attitude on that. she told lauren and i, in a very hesitant way, we had balls to come over and sit by her. we didn't just sit there and continuously ask her questions, she got to know a little bit about us too.
i enjoyed the experience. it put me out of my comfort zone- all the people in the wilk are intimidating! but i'm glad we did it. it was fun to meet someone new and learn a little bit about what makes them tick.
