build a bridge and get over it.

i am going home at the end of july. they might have to build a bridge so we can get into wynstone (where i live.) so that's cool.

this is not what home should look like.

wynstone = home
somewhere in there there is a pool... far back posts where water should be.
another picture of wynstone
i've noticed this is depressing for a number of reasons:
1- i wasn't home to help/still am not home to help
2- i haven't been home since decemeber
3- this may mean i don't make it home this summer
4- when i go home it will not be the same if i make it back in the near future

its not the material things that are hard to watch be taken away, though that is not easy, its the fact that this is the community i grew up in and its slowly not showing up in pictures..
and its what its doing to people in the community as well.
but, on a more positive note, its also shown how strong of a community i come from.
(from what i hear :/)

a picture's worth a thousand words.

reality sinks in when you see pictures like this.
i beg anyone in the tri state area not already helping to head to wynstone or the lake.
the island is actually the green on the golf course..

along the interstate.

people in yellow plus some are volunteers from my church making sandbags

my neighbors preparing to sand bag

one of the last houses on my street that they've been working on for three years.

i nannied at this house for a summer and spent multiple nights babysitting and this house and others on the street.

helicopters helping with sand bags weighing one ton

sheriff directing traffic in between north sioux and the dunes. the dunes was closed to everyone, even residents, so that workers and trucks building the leeve would not have to deal with traffic.
these pictures are from the newspaper's website (see more here.) and from friends pages on facebook. they're what made it "real" for me.
