i'm a leader: part four

Who remembers this clip? Poor girl. Bad job at getting the message across with through verbal communication Miss South Carolina!
Last week Brittanie Steele came to class. She is the Executive Vice President of BYUSA, pretty cool. She addressed communication. When I think communication I think about various conversations, specifically the verbal part of conversations, but we discussed all of the way you can communicate thoughts. Communication, positive or negative, affects emotions, efficiency, relationships, and understanding. A good communicator can build integrity and trust, translate appropriate messages to the appropriate audiences, take initiative, show optimism, and much more.
Communicate, when done the right way, is used everyday. It can prevent fights with roommates, bring the Spirit during a talk or lesson, or make for a productive and informative meeting. I have been working on communicating effectively with less words. I think more about what I am going to say and get to the point faster. This make people more willing to listen to everything I have to say, and they also feel like it was worth it to listen. At the end of class Brittanie shared a quote about Christlike communicate. I think that puts a whole different perspective on what you are saying. Some say, "What would Jesus do?" but "What would Jesus say?". I think with this frame of mind less will be offended and more will be thought of you overall. When everything is approached with a positive attitude and smile you will regret less and not have to deal with problems that arise when body language or conversations are taken the wrong way.
